Summer Film Class 2021

Class One - Overview of FIlmmaking

A complete overview of filmmaking covering both fictional films and documentary films. The art of storytelling is explored in both cases. Includes the basics of filming and editing.

Class Two - The Production Process

A complete overview of the tasks of producing a film project, including pre-production, filming and post production.

Class Three - Filming and Lighting (In-Studio Workshop)

An introduction to camera controls, framing, positing and lighting for interiors and exterior shots. Basic blocking techniques are explained and illustrate with students playing the role of actors on the set.

Class Four - Sound (In-Studio Workshop)

Recording sound in the studio and on exterior locations. Basic audio equipment and recording devices are explained and demonstrated in studio. 

Class Five - Screenwriting

An introduction to screenwriting. Includes examples form working scripts and practical sessions with students contributing characters, dialogue, and creating scenes.

Class Six - Directing (In-Studio Workshop)

An introduction to directing. How to build a scene, shot by shot, including blocking scenes, choosing shots, and directing actors.

Class Seven- Editing Basics (Edit Suite Workshop)

An introduction to editing. Covers the editing interface (Adobe Premier Pro), importing video, editing shots, creating a scene.

Class Eight - Editing Basics - Adding Shots, Sounds and Music (Edit Suite Workshop)

An overview of key editing techniques, including adding shots, sounds and music. Creating transitions between scenes.

Class Nine - Creating a Shooting Schedule

This class will present a script outline listing the scenes with key elements such as dialogue, cast members, sets, and special equipment requirements. Students will create a shooting schedule for their own short film.  Students will create a schedule for shooting and editing their own film. 

Class Ten - Creating a Plan for Shooting a Documentary Film (Project)

This Class will present students with a scenario for producing a short, documentary film based on a short film.  Students will schedule studio time for shooting their own film.

Class Eleven - Creating a Plan for Shooting a Documentary Film (Project)

This Class will present students with a scenario for producing a short, documentary film based on a short film.   Students will schedule studio time for shooting their own film. 

Class Twelve - Student Film Presentations

Students will present their films at the school.
